I completed my training in Neuroanaesthesia and critical care (D.M) in 2005 from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. After my training, I joined the National Institute of Mental Health and NeuroSciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, in the same year as an assistant professor. Currently, I am a professor in the same department. I completed my turn as the Head of the department between 2019-2022. Currently, I am the secretary of ISNACC (2025-2028).
During the initial part of my career, I had interests in biosignal analysis of the physiological waveforms and did research on the heart rate variability. I conducted workshops on transcranial Doppler, and multimodal neuromonitoring both as a stand-alone event and as well as part of annual ISNACC conferences.
I guide DM students and mentor junior faculty members. I spend quality time in neurointensive care. I was involved in LUNG-SAFE, WEAN-SAFE and ISOS study investigations. Along with my colleagues and students, I am working on topics like weaning from mechanical ventilation, multimodal neuro monitoring, nutrition, and endothelial biomarkers in critical care. Recently we published our work on multimodal non-invasive neuromonitoring in CVT patients. I am co principal investigator in few of the government funded projects including microdialysis and neuroinflammation in TBI, respiratory muscle function assessment and weaning in neurological patients.
