Dr. Varinee Lekprasert is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand. She currently serves as the head of the Anesthesiology Department at Ramathibodi Hospital, the president of the Thai Society for Neuroanesthesia (TSNA), and the immediate past president of the Royal College of Anesthesiologists of Thailand (RCAT).
Dr. Lekprasert graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. She then completed a Doctor of Medicine at Ross University School of Medicine in the West Indies and finished residency training in Anesthesiology at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. She received a grant from the Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC) to study a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, USA. With over 20 years of experience in neuroanesthesia and quality improvement, Dr. Lekprasert is an active member of the international medical community. She has been a board member of the Bangkok Anesthesia Regional Training Center (BARTC) since 2022 and serves on the board of the Asian Australasian Regional Section (AARS) from 2021 to 2025. Additionally, she had been involved with the Thai Board of Anesthesiology and the sub-board of Neuroanesthesia for several years.
Her research primarily focuses on neuroanesthesia and neurological complications. Having served on the Royal College of Anesthesiologists of Thailand’s committee for over a decade, Dr. Lekprasert has played a significant role in developing national anesthesia guidelines to improve anesthesia care in Thailand.
