Dr Samuel Ern Hung Tsan is a consultant neuroanaesthesiologist and neurointensivist and an Associate Professor of anaesthesiology and critical care at the University of Malaysia Sarawak and Sarawak General Hospital.
He holds a Master of Anaesthesiology with Distinction from the University of Malaya and is a Fellow of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland. He completed his International College on Perioperative Neurosciences Training-accredited neuroanaesthesiology and neurointensive care fellowships at St George’s Hospital in London, United Kingdom.
He is a dedicated researcher who, in addition to authoring publications in international peer-reviewed journals, has contributed multiple book chapters. His research interests include regional anaesthesia in neurosurgery, neurointensive care, airway management, and physician mental health. He is actively engaged in teaching undergraduate medical students and postgraduate anaesthesiology trainees. He refines his clinical practice at Sarawak General Hospital, where he provides specialized neuroanesthesia and neurointensive care services. His current leadership roles include serving on the executive committee of the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists and the Malaysian Society of Neuro Anaesthesiology and Critical Care.
