Deepak Sharma, MBBS, MD, DM, FASA is a Professor of Neuroanesthesiology & Perioperative Neurosciences and vice-chair for Faculty Affairs & Development in the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. He is an Endowed Chair, for Medical Education & Research and Director of Transcranial Doppler Laboratory at his institution. He was the founding Chief of the Division of Neuroanesthesiology & Perioperative Neurosciences at the University of Washington and the Fellowship Director of first ICPNT Accredited Neuroanesthesia Fellowship Program. He is a past-President of Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology & Critical Care (SNACC) and currently the vice-chair, Annual Meeting Oversight Committee of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). His research has been funded by Agency for Healthcare Research in Quality (AHRQ), National Institute of Health (NIH), American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation. His special interest & expertise are in stroke and transcranial Doppler ultrasonography. He is the Inventor of Transcranial Doppler Simulator for training and assessment, has over 120 publications and 2 textbooks to his credit. He has editorial and reviewer responsibilities with several journals, has given over 190 invited lectures nationally and internationally including 25 visiting professorships in various prestigious universities.
