Prof Dr Julian Bösel studied Medicine (1993-2000) in Heidelberg (GER) and London (UK) with rotations in South Africa, Latin America and the USA, he undertook a Doctoral Thesis on Intracellular Signaling. He specialized in Neurology and Experimental Neuroscience Research on Neuronal Hypoxia at University Hospital Charité Berlin (GER) (2001-2007). He continued as Attending, PhD, Professor, Section Director for Acute and Critical Care Neurology at University Hospital Heidelberg (GER) (2008-2016). He was Chairman of Neurology with Comprehensive Stroke center and Neuromuscular Network Coordination at Klinikum Kassel, Campus Hospital of the University of Southampton, Kassel (GER) (2017-2022). He accepted and Adjunct Professorship, Neurology Faculty at Johns Hopkins University Hospital (USA). Since 2024 he is Chairman of Neurology at the FEK academic hospital at Neumünster, GER. He is Past President and current Secretary General of the German Neurocritical Care Society (DGNI) and holds several other medical society positions and memberships (e.g. DGN, DGNL, DSG, DIVI, NCS, ESO) where he represents Stroke Neurology and Neurocritical Care. Clinical and scientific fields of interest are (Severe) Acute Ischemic Stroke, (Peri-interventional Neuroanesthesia in) Stroke Thrombectomy, Intracerebral Hemorrhage, Status epileptics, (Vascular) Neurocritical Care, (Non-invasive) Neuromonitoring, Brain Oxygenation, Neurological Emergency Care, Neurological Telemedicine.
