Dr Jessie Ly is a staff specialist neuroanaesthetist at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, Australia. Her clinical practice encompasses neuroanaesthesia, upper gastrointestinal anaesthesia, vascular anaesthesia and the management of complex, high-risk surgical patients.
She has broad experience across the spectrum of neuroanaesthesia, including neurovascular, neuro-oncology, neurointerventional, and spine procedures. Dr Ly is a supervisor of Westmead Hospital’s ICPNT-recognised neuroanaesthesia fellowship program, which uniquely provides fellows with hands-on training in intraoperative neuromonitoring.
Dr Ly also has a particular interest in perioperative medicine and holds a Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Medicine (GChPOM). She is an active member of the perioperative special interest group at Westmead and contributes to the established high-risk perioperative clinic, with a focus on optimising outcomes for complex surgical patients.
She also has a strong interest in the basic sciences and their application to clinical practice. Dr Ly is an ANZCA primary examiner and a clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney, where she coordinates the Basic Sciences in Clinical Neurophysiology unit of study. Her work reflects a deep commitment to education, integrating clinical expertise with the teaching of foundational neuroscience to support the next generation of anaesthetists.
Outside of work, Jessie enjoys spending time with her husband (whom she met at Mount Kinabalu!), her active toddler and dog, Chewie. She also enjoys bushwalking, jigsaw puzzles and reading to help her maintain balance and recharge.
