Dr Chong is specialist accredited with the Ministry of Health (Singapore) in both Anaesthesiology (2008) and Intensive Care Medicine (2013). Presently Senior Consultant with the Department of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, National Healthcare Group (Singapore), his subspecialty interest is in neurocritical care and neuroanaesthesia, for which he completed a clinical fellowship at Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network, University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada under the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Plan Award.
Dr Chong heads the Neuroanaesthesia Service in the department. His educational roles are with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (Nanyang Technological University) as Associate Professor (Clinical Track) and Lead of Pharmacology; with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore) as Senior Lecturer; and with Division of Graduate Medical Studies (National University of Singapore) as Examiner for the Master of Medicine (Anaesthesiology).
Dr Chong has previous publications in Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology, Canadian Journal of Anesthesia, Pituitary, Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, Annals – Academy of Medicine Singapore.
Dr Chong served as the President of Singapore Society of Anaesthesiologists (2020-2023) and was in the Organising Committee for the 18th World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA) held in Singapore 2024
