Dr. Cristiane Tavares is a Brazilian neuroanesthesiologist based in São Paulo and Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of São Paulo School of Medicine (Hospital das Clínicas – HCFMUSP), one of the largest academic medical centers in Latin America. She serves as Head of the Neuroanesthesia Team and Program Director of the Neuroanesthesiology Fellowship at HCFMUSP, where she is actively involved in the education and mentorship of anesthesiology residents and fellows.
With more than two decades of clinical and academic experience, Dr. Tavares has dedicated her career to the advancement of neuroanesthesia and perioperative neuroscience. Her work focuses on the anesthetic management of complex neurosurgical patients, perioperative brain health, neuroprotection strategies, and the optimization of neurological outcomes following neurosurgical procedures.
Dr. Tavares is actively engaged in national and international collaborations in neuroanesthesiology. She participates in scientific and educational initiatives with international organizations dedicated to neuroanesthesia and perioperative neuroscience and frequently lectures at national and international scientific meetings. Her academic contributions include scientific publications, educational initiatives, and participation in collaborative projects aimed at strengthening neuroanesthesia training and research.
She is particularly interested in expanding neuroanesthesia education and fellowship training in Brazil and Latin America, contributing to the development of structured academic programs and international cooperation in the field.
In addition to her clinical and academic leadership, Dr. Tavares is committed to mentoring young physicians and fostering the growth of neuroanesthesia as a recognised subspecialty within anesthesiology.
