The mission of the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC) is to safeguard and optimize perioperative neurologic function and brain health through neuroscience research, education, and advocacy, thereby advancing high-quality, patient-centered anesthesia and critical care.

SNACC was founded in 1973 (as the Neurosurgical Anesthesia Society or NAS), in the United States, with many luminaries (both anesthesiologists and neurosurgeons) in the field serving as its first leaders. Now in its 54th year, SNACC continues to be a worldwide leader in the creation and dissemination of Neuroanesthetic and Neurocritical Care knowledge, discovery, practice guidelines, and education, having collaborated also with many affiliates and stakeholders across the globe.

SNACC is committed to the worldwide furthering of Neuroanesthesia and Neurocritical Care as disciplines that are essential to the care of diverse patients, and to the advancement of these fields for the betterment of all of mankind.

Founded as the Neurosurgical Anaesthetists' Travelling Club in 1965, the Neuroanaesthesia and Neurocritical Care Society (NACCS) has the objective of the advancement of education for the public benefit in the science of neuroanaesthesia and neuro critical care. It now has nearly 500 members with about a 1/5 being anaesthetists in training. It aims to provides an educational platform for specialists in anaesthesia and critical care who have specialist interest in neurological trauma, surgery and disease as well as offering education for those with occasional interaction with this area of medicine.

With the evolution of anaesthesia and critical care training in the UK, NACCS provides an extensive portfolio of educational resources to support those wishing to advance their training in neuroanaesthesia and critical care. It offers members the opportunity to perform national surveys in the field.

We also provide support to members who wish to undertake training opportunities outside of their place of work and also offers educational and travel grants. In addition to this, the society contributes to the NIAA research grant portfolio NACCS works with other professional specialist societies to share specialist insight into areas such as Obstetric Anaesthetists' Association.
